Awards - Honors

A picture of the SDF winners from 2012Churn Creek Cellars has been fortunate to be recognized for its wine. Our 2011 white dessert wine took the 'Best of Show' honor in the amateur class at the Shasta District Fair wine competition in 2012. This feat is one of the reasons we decided to obtain our federal bond and start making wine on a commercial basis. In fact, 4 of the top 5 wines in the amateur class that year were made by Denise and Layne.

In 2013 the Viognier produced by Shasta College, under the direction of Layne and Kathy Roth of Dakaro Cellars, took first place in it's category in the commercial division at the Shasta District Fair. Although this wine was made by students, it's another acknowledgement for both Churn Creek and Dakaro that they are producing fine wines that can stand up to the competition.

This heavyweight stood up to the competition and did not back down. We will soon be able to pour you a taste and let you "judge for yourself" what others are saying about the wines produced by Churn Creek Cellars.

Our 2012 Dessert wine, "Perseverance", just won the 2015 Shasta District Fair "Best of Show". This wine is now available for tasting and purchasing, but you had better hurry! There was only 11 cases produced!

Our entries in the 2016 Fingerlakes International Wine Competition scored well. Our 2013 Chardonnay and Sangiovese each received a "bronze" medal, and the 2014 Pinot Grigio scored a "silver" medal. We are looking forward to entering more wines in competitions in the future.
